TALKING TIMBER, 3-4pm Thursday 21 September

In this lively panel discussion designers and architects involved in 2017 Wood Awards will explore the role of timber in the UK design world. Topics covered will range from innovations such as cross-laminated timber and CNC cutting to traditional joinery techniques. The awards are given for excellence in British architecture and product design, and aim to recognise, encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation in the world’s only naturally sustainable material. Since the competition began in 1971 it has had an impact on the architectural and design landscape, becoming a ‘mark of excellence’ in wood. Previous Wood Awards winners include Foster + Partners, Arup, Niall McLaughlin Architects, Sebastian Cox, Simon Pengelly and Katie Walker. This year’s shortlist showcases designs from dRMM, 6a, Alison Brooks, ercol, Gareth Neal and Case. Speakers will include past winners and current shortlist nominees.
